At A & L Youth and Family Services, we partner with community organizations, activists, and state agencies to create lasting change. By listening to those we serve, we break down barriers and address the evolving needs of our community.

Our mission is to empower young people with resources, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through skill-building, workforce preparation, and resilience training, we prepare the next generation of leaders to succeed and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Community Engagement & Direct Impact

At the heart of ALYFS is our deep commitment to community care. We actively support families and individuals through resource giveaways, events, and culturally responsive outreach. From distributing school supplies, hygiene kits, and toys to hosting violence prevention cookouts, holiday drives, and wellness workshops, our events are designed to meet real needs with love and consistency. These moments not only provide essentials — they also build trust, connection, and joy within the neighborhoods we serve. Our goal is to show up in ways that matter and to ensure every person we reach feels seen, supported, and empowered.

Career Exploration, Skill-Building & Independence

At ALYFS, we empower youth ages 11–24 by offering meaningful career exposure and real-world preparation. Through targeted programs, we help young people explore their passions, assess their strengths, and engage with professionals across a wide range of industries — from traditional careers to emerging fields. By partnering with local businesses and organizations, we create access to internships, apprenticeships, and skill-building opportunities that lay the groundwork for long-term success. In addition to career development, we focus on building life skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability — essential traits that foster both independence and employability. Through mentorship and hands-on experiences, our youth gain the tools to thrive personally and professionally.

Workforce Readiness & Certifications

ALYFS prepares young people ages 8-45 for successful careers by providing opportunities to build practical employability skills. Our workshops cover essential topics such as interviewing, resume writing, financial literacy, and technical skills. Participants can also earn certifications in areas like CPR, food service, and babysitting, giving them a competitive edge in the workforce and setting them on a path to long-term career success.
